Before you jump on the weighted vests bandwagon. . .

Hey sunshine! Thanks for opening this message before what will hopefully be a nice, fun, restful weekend for you 💕
One thing that can sometimes be challenging about being trained as a chiropractor and then working with clients the way I do over the past 14 years, is that I sometimes find myself very distracted by the spines and bodies I see out in the world 😳
And not in a good way!
For example, at the gym I will frequently see other gymgoers lifting and moving in ways that are doing harm to them in the long term.
Weighted vests have been a health craze for some time.
And while I can see that there could be ways wearing a weighted vest while walking could help build strength and resilience, I have my concerns about this as well.
While this was on my mind, as if by magic, I see that Mila Apostolovic (bright light of New Day and owner of Unlimited by Mila) had just posted about this.

There aren’t very many fitness trainers out there who understand that a compressed, misaligned spine that is the result of a nervous system forced to (over)function in a disconnected, stress-based, past-based state over the course of months and years should not be further compressed in the name of strength building 😬
Doing that is just going to create more problems!
Some of which you might feel after the workout, and some of which will show up later (arthritis, anyone?)
And so if you’ve been wondering about weighted vests and you want a recommendation from me, I will tell you that it depends.
