There was a “dark cloud hanging over me”

And my thoughts weren’t helping 😂
Hey, hey, New Day 💛 Thank you for opening this message 💌
As many of you know, I am travelling to Colorado this Friday morning for 5 days with Donny Epstein (creator of Network Spinal care) for the Total Donny Experience 💥✨💗
But did you also know that the day I get back, Wednesday the 16th, my BFF will be in town, staying as my houseguest 👯♀️
“That sounds nice,” you might say.
Oh it will be nice. . . but it will also be QUITE the extravaganza.
Party, party, party until she leaves that Sunday 🎊
(We don’t always get to see each other that often, so when we do we tend to go all-out 😂🙏)
Then, less than a week after my friend is visiting, and a week-and-a-half after Total Donny, I will be driving to Iowa with my brother to run in a 7 mile road-race 😱😱😱
(I’ve run this race before, but not for SEVERAL years, and do not consider myself super into running).
Over the past month or two, my thoughts have been totally consumed by the race.
🏃♀️ “What if I can’t do it?”
🏃♀️ “What if I can do it, but only by running at such a depressingly slow speed that it makes me feel terrible about myself?”
🏃♀️ “How will I be able to have fun when my friend is visiting when I should be getting ready for the race?”
My thoughts about the race have been fear-based, and laden with a sense of obligation and resentment.
You’d hardly know I chose to do this voluntarily 😂

In addition to complicating things with my BFF’s visit, I’ve felt like I’ve hardly been able to get excited about the Total Donny Experience due to my preoccupation with the race 😥
It’s like a dark cloud has been hanging over me ☁️
I’m telling you all of this because I am seeing some huge parallels here with some of the things I’ve been able to help you sunshines with lately.
You might reading this and thinking that my thoughts about the race are the problem.
And I agree– they’re certainly not helping!
I will be the first to say that I have been in an energy-neutral “story” about what it will take for me to be “ready” for the race (a long and linear process of adding distance, adding hills, getting faster, NOT over-indulging in food and drink, etc).
The “story” is helping suck the life out of my experiences!
BUT I want you to know that I don’t think changing my thoughts is the answer.
Just like I don’t think that for you changing your thoughts about your perceived issue or problem, physical or otherwise, is the answer. Your thoughts are data. They are indicators ✨

There’s Donny working with me at the Gate this past February ✨
Donny Epstein teaches that our thoughts are an exact reflection of how much energy we have available through our nervous systems and bodies.
The key isn’t for us to change our thoughts. That’s just a form of resistance (and what we resist PERSISTS).
The key is becoming AWARE– and not just of the thoughts, but of the energy state that has us having these thoughts 🌀
Once I became fully aware of the “dark cloud”– the depleted energy state that had me feeling like I could only feel ready for the race through constant mental preoccupation and elaborate and strict plans for training– things started changing 💥
I am happy to report that through my awareness I freed up the energy to have a different experience of preparation for the race while I continue to enjoy my life ✨
And now I know the warning signs for when the energy starts to drop out again!
Awareness, acknowledgement, and acceptance of the energetic that’s been controlling your reality is what we practice– on the table, and in life ✨☀️💗🌍🌀
Thank you for reading, sunshine! I look forward to seeing you this week, and next week starting Wednesday after I get back from Total Donny 💖
