Your nervous system has a language

How to listen ✨

Good morning, sunshine 🌤️ Thank you for opening this special message I have for you today.

I’ve had a lot of questions lately from you all about “focusing” when you are on the table receiving care.

This is also important because this is practice for you for outside of New Day as well!

Yes, you are meant to focus your senses in order to get the most possible out of the care with me ✨

And there are ways you can refine your focus to have it be more easy, effortless, Energy Rich, and impactful.

But I also want you to know that the encouragement to “focus” isn’t me telling you to go to war with yourself and your unfocused ways when you’re on the table. That will only frustrate you!

It’s about engagement, and working together 👯‍♀️

I was inspired to write a message about your engagement on the table after experiencing something very eye opening in the adjusting room with a client 😳

Whether or not you’ve had questions about how and why we focus our attention during care, the anecdote I’m about to share will probably shock you (and maybe have you laugh too! I bet you would have LOVED to see the look on my face 😂)

One afternoon, a client arrived at New Day for their regularly scheduled care, coming into the adjusting room and laying down on their stomach on the table as they normally would.

But then, when I approached them on the table, touching their spine and checking in with them (“How’s it been going?” etc.) as I normally do with each of you when you come in for your care, this person did not respond to me 🤨

That’s when I noticed something strange. I saw that this individual was holding their cellphone in their hand and had their airpods in their ears while they were laying here face down!

I watched as this person’s thumb hit “mute” and they turned their head to me to say to me, “I’m on Zoom,” before again turning face down and “unmuting” themselves.

I was astonished. Then, I was shocked. Then I was just frustrated and (quite frankly) a bit angry 😱😱😱

How could anyone who receives my care, I wondered, possibly think that listening to a Zoom call during their adjustment could be a good use of time and energy? For them, or for me??

I mean, on the one hand maybe they just somehow think that I am just SUCH a magician with this care that it would somehow work on you in spite of the lack of engagement or attention paid? 🪄✨🪄💥

I want you to consider that the impact of your focus, awareness, and engagement is one of the MAJOR differences between this form of care compared to other interventions (and hence why this works so well!)

Let’s explore this a little further. Your nervous system has a language. And if we want all the good that nervous system healing can bring, then we need to be listening ✨

In our (medical) culture we are conditioned to think that for something to “work” that it should “work” without any input or awareness from the (passive) patient.

And not only that but that the procedure should possibly even “work” without the patient even knowing it’s happening 😮 (consider the medical research “gold standard” of the randomized, double-blind, controlled trial)

Network Spinal is quite the opposite, which is new for many people.

Think of it this way; this is a practice.

A practice, whether it’s a yoga practice, a meditation practice, a movement practice, or this, is a way of observing yourself. You become more sensitive. The process changes you and who you consider yourself to be💥

Your nervous system is speaking. Probably not in English or a language that you immediately understand (especially not at first).

When you come in for your care with me, this is a practice for you to observe yourself, your body, and your spine. You are to listen to and through your nervous system.

The language your nervous system speaks through your body and spine comes in the form of:

👀🥰💥💐🔥 sensations
💨🌀🎈💗 breaths
🌊🕺🐬🐣🐛 movements

Your nervous system is speaking at all times, not just when you come to New Day to be adjusted by me ☺️

So why not just start “listening” to your nervous system at all times even when you’re not here?

When you are experiencing the adjustments in Network Spinal care, there’s a “listening” that just isn’t possible when you are stressed, in fight-or-flight, overwhelmed, in pain, in your stories and/or ruminating and focused on your situation.

The atmosphere at New Day, and the fact that you are laying face down with nothing else to focus on, helps too!

But the adjustments are what’s helping the most.

While you are “practicing” with your observation of your nervous system, body, and spine, I am simultaneously listening to your spine and body and working with you in such a way as to have your nervous system speak more loudly and/or have it feel like your (metaphorical) “ears” are suddenly working MUCH better 💥

The better you can observe/listen/focus/be aware on the table at New Day, the more quickly this care process will start helping you outside the office and in the ways you want it to help you ✨☀️💗💥🌀🌍

Thank you for for reading this message and engaging in this amazing, life-changing care process and beautiful New Day community! I hope you enjoyed it and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on your next visit 💖🏡
