The soul’s light shines forever
On love, loss, and community ✨
Good evening, New Day community ☀️
As the sun sets on this lovely weekend, I wanted to reach out to you, like I often do toward the beginning of the week, to focus myself and to set intentions for us for the week at New Day.
I had a difficult weekend. My 19 year old cat Khan made his transition on Saturday 🌀
As many of you know, Khan was a beautiful soul in the body of an orange tabby cat, loved by many and especially by me and my husband Josh 🧡
If you’ve experienced loss, you know that while there are many comforting sentiments being offered out there, nothing takes away the pain, especially when it’s fresh 😰
Still, I think it’s an important part of our relationships and being in community with others to be able to give and receive those loving sentiments ✨💓🌍
As it would happen, I had recently, over the past week, been in the midst of designing some special New Day greeting cards ✨✨✨
And why have I been designing greeting cards?!
First of all, I’ve always loved cards and staying connected to people that way.
I’m not alone in this! Former New Day team members Diane and Diana are also, like me, huge card nerds 🤓 (check out this beauty below that Diana gave me when Khan’s brother Loki passed away a year and a half ago)
I still keep this on display, because it is so beautiful and expresses such a magical sentiment 💓
The second reason, and maybe just more of the deeper level as to why I love cards, has to do with being your chiropractor 💥
Being part of people’s lives week to week, month to month, and year to year, through good times and bad and through so many of life’s events and transitions is something that I hold so sacred and dear ❄️🌱💃😱⏳🌍
We had a great routine, as an office, of sending birthday cards to our community members for many years, but recently, without any staff, I had not been able to keep it going.
Creating these special cards for us is my way of re-establishing this practice as an important part of our connection through New Day ☀️
And so it was just a week ago that I chose the message for our future New Day grief/loss card:
Front: “The soul’s light shines forever”
Inside: “We are sorry for your loss and we are sending love and energy your way
Sometimes, we need boundaries in life.
BUT it also can feel really good to allow ourselves to be seen and supported by others. And so I didn’t want to keep something from you that might allow you to feel even more connected with me.
Khan’s Instagram community has been just AMAZING– so sweet and thoughtful– in sending love and energy our way (check out just one example above!)
But it’s really not necessary that you or anyone say or do anything special for me at this time! Seriously. If you’re reading this, just your thoughtfulness and engagement is enough ✨☀️🌀
And in case you’re starting to wonder as you read this. . . YES I will happily be at New Day tomorrow, Tuesday, and Thursday, as usual ☀️💥💖
In some ways, “working” does have a nice way of helping a person get their minds off their problems 😂
But that’s not quite how I feel about it right now.
Marianne Williamson has said, “Miracles flow from the recognition that love is the purpose of our career.” (whatever that is!)
Khan, a spiritual master as well as a cat, definitely embraced love as his career 😻🧡😊
Working with clients at New Day is one of the ways I feel most connected, related to myself and others, (and really feeling and knowing that the soul’s light DOES shine forever 💫)
Thank you for all the loving work you do in the world, New Day! I look forward to seeing you for your adjustments this week 💖
