Let’s get related
(yeah yeah yeah!)

Do you need a reasessment?
Excellent morning to you, New Day!
Let’s get related (yeah yeah yeah!)🎶
(Why is that stuck in my head now? And where did it even come from?!)
Anyway. Reassessments. Progress Exams. Re-evalutions. Whatever you want to call them.
When I was in chiropractic school, and in particular in my last couple of years of school when I was working as an intern in our “Student Clinic,” adjusting staff of the school and others from the community, I was taught that reassessments were a necessary part of care for your patients.
Whether it was every 9 visits, every 12 visits, every 6 months, or longer, it was necessary to periodically take time to revisit the original goals the patient had for care, asses to see if they’d “gotten better,” and to potentially make new goals (or discharge the patient if the care no longer seemed to be helping them).
All of this needed to be part of the chiropractic regimen, I was taught, so that both the patients and the doctor could stay focused and not have weekly chiropractic adjustments degenerate into a bland, energy-neutral, “treading water” sort of experience for everyone involved 😱
After I opened New Day and started working with my own clients, even initially I did find that I had some mixed feelings about this way of considering reassessments.
For example, in the traditional framework, less misalignments in the spine, greater range of motion in the neck (for example), and greater ability to exercise every other day (for example), are all ways that the doctor might be able to say at a reassessment that the care being rendered to the patient was “working.”
The problem I always had with reassessments or progress exams is how narrow the focus would seem to be 😰

Having had much experience as the patient in the relationship as well, I definitely recall not liking having the value of care in my life reduced to mechanistic, and seemingly random, indicators.
“Try telling me that I’m not getting better,” I’d think, because the range of motion in my neck hasn’t improved (as an example), “when I’m sitting here thinking that I literally do not feel like a calm and sane person when I’m not getting adjusted” (kidding. . . no not really 😰😂🙏)
And so as your doctor I have frequently been torn between wanting to be “goal oriented” and focused on “outcomes” with you, and at other times just wanting to let us all relax and have your care at New Day be something you enjoy, having New Day be a place where you can be yourself, and having Network Spinal care with me be the one thing that you can relax into and enjoy every week without you having to “achieve” something 😊
My feelings around all of this shifted even further over covid during the last 2 and a half years.
Unexpectedly, I found that I went from having some mixed feelings about re-assessments for our clients at New Day (but overall continuing to be committed to the process), to then to finding that NONE of our clients seemed to care about reassessments at all.
What my care was for people had changed drastically, for the most part, and the way I provided care needed to keep up with that 💥💥💥
Starting around March of 2020, my care came to feel more and more like a life raft for people ⚓️
“Just come in, leave your worries at the door, get present in your body, get a few deep breaths, and get back to the rest of your life. Let’s let it be that simple,” I thought.
After all those years of being a student of Donny’s and focusing on the transformational aspects of Network Spinal, as well as having been a student of numerous other healing and spiritual modalities, I sometimes found that I almost couldn’t believe how “basic” my care ended up being.
During covid, I pretty much stopped doing reassessments with you, unless you had just finished 3 months of intensive care.
Reassessing felt besides the point. An unnecessary hurdle. A whole lot of song and dance, and for what?
“If you’re continuing to come here week after week, this is obviously helping you in your life, right?”
We were treading water ⚓☀️💖
And that was appropriate. But there was one crucial thing that has sometimes been missing for me, with you, my clients, during these last couple years.
That missing element has been taking time to GET RELATED.
What do I mean by “getting related”?
Well, let me give you an example that you might be able to relate to 😊
Have you ever had a call scheduled with a boss or a mentor– a call where you were going to be discussing your progress on a certain project or in a new role you were in.
And before this call, you found yourself feeling utterly lost, anxious, annoyed, and maybe even defensive at the thought of having this call?
And when something like this has been happening, have you ever stopped yourself and done 10 minutes of simple brainstorming or journaling about how you were feeling and what you hoped would come across in the call?
And then, if you did do the brainstorming or journaling, did you subsequently feel shocked about HOW MUCH BETTER you felt going into the call with the boss or mentor?
This process– the journaling, brainstorming, and the awareness it brings about before you go into a conversation– is what I would call “getting related.” 💥☀️🌀

Why do you come into New Day and get adjusted every week? 💥
Or, why don’t you? 💥💥💥
This consideration is what I would like to propose to you is the necessary and helpful part of doing a reassessment of your progress in care with me at New Day. Especially at this juncture, after the last two and a half years.
I don’t want you to have to have what this care is for you in your life to fit into narrow, medicalistic, “goal-oriented” parameters.
BUT I also don’t want you, and you and me together with you, to be flying blind as to what your care at New Day is doing for you so far, and what you would like it to be doing, and how this fits into your vision for your overall health and life.
We are soon to enter a major reassessment drive at New Day ☀️💖🌍
Everyone who is in weekly care and who has been in care with me for more than 6 months will especially be encouraged to participate by having a reassessment and participating in a group follow up meeting.
I am REALLY excited for this, and the potential this process has to up-level your experience of care at New Day and your relationship with me, your practitioner 💥☀️💖
Maybe you’ve been in care with me almost every week since who knows when, but you haven’t had the time or attention to stop and get super intentional about it.
Or, maybe you’ve been in care for a few months, and feel like you could use a reset as to your personal how and why for care for your spine and nervous system at New Day.
Or, maybe you’ve been out of care for a while, and you want to come back to it, but you feel like you could really benefit from the opportunity to get reconnected with me, your practitioner, so that I can help you the way you want to be helped?
I think we can do all of this, and more! ✨💓🌍
Stay tuned in the next couple of weeks to get signed up for a reassessment. Or click here if you know for sure you want to take part in this, or you have questions.
And I’ll look forward to seeing you at your adjustments today and Thursday!
