This sweet sunshine is so far away 💕🌆🎻
Meet our sweet sunshine of the month– Mila!
What first brought you to New Day?
A friend invited me to one of New Day’s networking events and told me that Dr. Katie hosts them regularly. When I heard it was in Skokie, I hesitated at first since I live downtown near Millennium Park and don’t have a car. But I had a strong inner nudge telling me there was something special about it and that I should go. So I took a leap of faith, made the trip, and I’m very glad I did.
How did you feel before you started care here?
Before I started care here, my body was carrying years of accumulated stress and trauma. I lived through war, immigrated alone to Canada, survived sepsis, moved to the U.S., and went through a very difficult marriage and divorce.
With over 30 years of experience in the fitness and wellness industry, I was very aware of different healing approaches and had tried many modalities. I meditate regularly, work out consistently, and have worked with acupuncturists, chiropractors, physical therapists, massage therapists, osteopath and so on.
Even with all of this, I knew my body was still holding a lot of stress from everything I had lived through. I had ongoing pain in my right shoulder for years and felt physically stuck. I knew I needed a deeper level of healing.
Can you share that specific moment where things started to shift, and what did that feel like?
I didn’t have big expectations going into my first treatment. I understand that you can’t undo years of stress and trauma in one session, and that the body needs time to heal. Nothing in my life happened in an hour, so I didn’t expect instant results.
That said, even after the first treatment, I felt noticeably calmer in my body. Many people aren’t very connected to their bodies, but I am. I could feel that first subtle shift.
After the second treatment, I noticed my shoulder pain was gone, and there was a deeper sense of calm. After my fourth treatment, something bigger shifted. I felt hopeful. My rib cage felt more open, and for the first time in a long while, I could breathe more deeply. I also realized I was sleeping on my right shoulder again, something I hadn’t been able to do for years.
The biggest shift, though, was this feeling of happiness and hopefulness in my body. It wasn’t just physical relief, it was a sense that things were finally moving in the right direction.
What advice would you give to someone considering Network care for the first time ?
I would encourage anyone considering network spinal for the first time to give it a try and trust the process, even if they don’t feel an immediate inner nudge like I did. Dr. Katie is there to support your body’s natural ability to heal, and that process looks different for everyone. For some it happens sooner, for others it takes more time.
I highly recommend Dr. Katie, especially because I have never seen this level of care for patients with any other doctor. She is truly invested, not only in me, but in all of her patients. I didn’t know much about network spinal care when I started, and there were many things I didn’t expect, and I’ve seen how beneficial this work is on many levels, both through her care and through the system itself.
Thank you, Mila, for sharing your story so openly. You inspire us!
