Your pain coming back–

it might not be a bad thing!

Re-tracing is real 💥

Good evening, New Day! I hope you are having an amazing week already!

And if you’re not sure about your week because you’re still easing your way into things this Monday, that’s cool too 😎✨☀️💗

Not to toot my own horn, but I must tell you that I really get a lot out of looking back at all the things I’ve written over the past 13 years (!!!) on my blog.

(Hopefully you Wonderbook-ers are going to have a similar experience when you look back at your Wonderbook at the end of our 12 week process 💥)

It’s really helpful for me, and weirdly reassuring, to see that I wrote things way back then that are still relevant today

For example, I just came across a blog I wrote in 2013 that might be helpful for some of you that’ about “re-tracing.”

I’ll share it below!

“Is my pain coming back?”

Re-Tracing and the Healing Process

✨Vintage me, writing on July 23rd 2013 ✨

Is pain always a problem? Pain is often what brings people to New Day and any office dedicated to health and healing.

Pain is a powerful signal from the body that something is out of balance, needs changing, or needs attention in the body and life. Therefore pain isn’t bad, it’s useful. Ideally it’s giving us feedback so that we can make different choices.

What about pain after you’re already in care? It is very common that in the first months of care, a person may re-experience some pain, tension, or soreness from past injuries or emotional trauma.

We need to welcome this as part of the healing process, because it actually means 1) your brain and body are better connected and you are more aware of the signals your body is giving you and 2) your body has become healthy enough to pick up the healing process for these old injuries and traumas.

Healing takes energy.  When some of the strain, tension, and disconnection in your nervous system is released and rearranged, that frees up energy and resources to resume previously abandoned healing processes.

I’ll give you an analogy from my previous life as a housekeeper. Have you ever begun a major cleaning project in your home, such as re-organizing your bedroom closet, and not had the time and energy to finish?

The project sits, half done, and in the meantime all kinds of other clutter is getting piled up all around. Now even if you had time to resume the project, you couldn’t do it until you did some laundry, vacuuming, and straightening so that you can actually focus on what you need to do.

And so it is with your body! Now that you’re system is out of fight-or-flight and better connected on a week to week basis, you’re nervous system and body are actually able to get back to these issues.

I look forward to hearing your experiences with re-tracing on your next visit ✨
