2 weeks can feel like a long time! πŸ˜‚

Adjustments not lasting?

Good day, New Day! I am back from Aruba. And despite the weather, let me just say that it is SO GOOD to be back.

 

We had a great time, of course.

 

There was some amazing snorkling 🀿

 

There were dinners, drinks, beaches, and hanging out by the pool πŸ‘™πŸ₯—β˜€οΈπŸ–

 

There was also, as many of you who have been in the office this week know, an expedition by jeep to a very special and magical place called the Black Stones Beach, where I retrieved a couple of magical Aruban stones (also see our New Day Instagram for more on this) πŸ’Ž

Some of you who have already this week seen me for your care have expressed the feeling that going a week without care was too long 😬

 

You might have felt disjointed, achey, and annoyed (I personally think feelings of annoyance and irritation are some of the most important signs that spine care may be needed!) πŸ˜±πŸ˜‚πŸ™

 

And that might have even felt a little disheartening.

 

“If this care works so well. . . . well, why do I need it all the time to feel normal?”

 

I too have had these thoughts at times over the years. You are not alone!

 

What it really comes back to are two things.

 

First, anything we do for the body and nervous system really has to be done regularly to experience the benefits (and even more regularly when we are new to it!) πŸ’“

 

Think about a weight loss regimen.

 

And then even after you might have lost weight, you find that now you need to continue to work out, not just to maintain your weight, but also, hopefully, to feel good!

 

I sometimes think that there are chiropractors who are not very transparent about this with their clients.

 

It’s like they’re so eager to get people in the door that they don’t want to have a tough conversation about how chiropractic care isn’t a magic wand because they don’t want to scare people off.

 

And the result is that people are left thinking that chiropractic “doesn’t work” because they still need it months and years later (not true!).

 

The second thing to consider is that because you have benefitted from a healthy spine and nervous system, you are more sensitive to signs of distress than the average person.

 

It might not always seem like it, but sensitivity is a good thing!

 

You are able to sense that something is off, and try to make changes that might help you,Β before things go COMPLETELY off the railsΒ (go to the link for more thoughts about this).

 

So if you missed me last week, fear not! It doesn’t mean that the care doesn’t work, or that you don’t 😊

 

In this world we live in, it will probably always be the case that your spine and nervous system might seem to forget all that they’ve learned through care.

 

The good news is that your body, spine, and nervous system can “remember” again at least as quickly.
