There is no failure, only _______________
How do you know when you’re energy neutral?
Glad tidings and happy beginning of the week, New Day!ย Thank you for opening this message ๐
Did you know how to fill in the blank in the subject of our email?
There is no failure, only FEEDBACK.
I love this little gem, and not just because it directs our attention to reinterpret an unpleasant situation or circumstance by how we might have been helped by said situation or circumstance.
It directs us to look at the direct relationship between what we put in– in our expectations, thoughts, activities, and overall energy– and the result that came out.
Which brings me to the subtitle of this blog.ย How do we know when we have been energy neutral in how we approach a situation?
Answer:ย We get an energy neutral RESULT.
Of all of Donny Epstein’s concepts (creator of Network Spinal and SRI), I think the energetic states are one of the most useful and interesting.
Even without me explaining it to you, if I said that something is “energy poor,” you’d probably know what I’m talking about.
When we are energy poor, it means we barely have enough energy to keep the show running (physically or otherwise).ย Our consciousness is dominated by aches, pains, crisis, and a need to regroup alone (and/or suck some energy from energy rich people or situations!).
But even more than being energy poor, I think that energy neutral states can be the biggest enemy of progress, whether we are talking about your workouts, your relationships, your care at New Day– anywhere!
When we are energy neutral, sometimes it’s hard to recognize it because we are taking action. . . which is what we are supposed to be doing, right?ย When we are DOING SOMETHING, the experience can often masquerade for us as a shift to being energy rich.
But the action is totally procedural and uninspired.ย We find that it takes tons of work and we only ever seem to move forward incrementally.ย Everything is very status quo.ย ย
Example: traditional chiropractic care.
Even the best, most holistically oriented offices out there are geared 1) toward getting you out of pain and then 2) having you show up every week for the rest of your life as a kind of glorified insurance policy against a future energy poor episode.
Don’t get me wrong.ย That energy neutral orientation toward health and life (in chiropractic and otherwise) where we just keep doing the healthy activities, as a matter of habit, over and over again to maintain ourselves is a VERY important component of keeping a healthy baseline.ย It is needed.
But if we are so busy in the doing, bringing an energy of habit, routine, same old, and “should,” then it shouldn’t surprise us when might sometimes feel a bit blah about things.ย “Oh, coming in for these appointments every week is so hard in my schedule,” we might find ourselves saying.
We gain access to an energy rich experience when we are able to connect with the goals and the higher purpose for the actions we take.ย Suddenly, the action becomes more effortless and energized.
Yes, you will have times at New Day when you experience yourself as energy poor.ย There will be times when you experience the care as that energy neutral “insurance policy.”
But we always look for opportunities to bring the big picture of energy richness– a sense of possibility, something novel, and a fresh perspective– into your experience of what this amazing care brings into our lives.
One of my FAVORITE ways to foster that energy rich experience for you in your care is by being in community with you at our workshops and events.
Our next Bright Souls Gathering– the workshop for leaders in the New Day community– focuses on energy– both the energy that you bring and the way that Dr. Virginia and I relate to energy in the work we do with you.
I can’t wait for event, as an opportunity for an energy rich conversation and experience.ย Come learn, experience, and contribute your unique perspective at our next Bright Souls Gathering!
This gathering will be held Tuesday, February 25th at 7PM.ย Please click here to RSVP, as it does help us (and you!) to be intentional and plan for an amazing experience.
