Laying there “like a log”?

Movement on the table Part 2 β¨
GOOD MORNING beautiful! Thank you for opening this message π
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote and sent to you Part 1 of what I think you need to know about moving your body and spine on the table when you’re getting adjusted by me.
If you have found yourself wondering about this– wondering if you’re moving too much, too little, and what’s “supposed to” happen– click here for my intro to this topic.
There’s a lot more that I would like to discuss on this topic, in preparation for the Bright Souls Gathering coming up on November, where we will see examples of all the different types of movements live and in person!
First, I want to circle back to a question that many of you may have been thinking when you read Part 1.
It’s a question/comment that I’ve heard MANY times over the years in practicing this work. . .Β
This question/comment often comes up at workshops, or in the adjusting room when there is a particularly move-y sunshine on the table next to you.
“Am I moving enough?” π
“Am I too passive on the table?” π°
“I feel like I’m just laying here like a log! Why aren’t I moving more?” π°
I want to reassure you and encourage you. In your care with me (and always!) it helps to stay open and curious!
Again, make sure to read my last message,Β where I point out that we are humanΒ animals, and that just like if I were adjusting a little cat like Andy or Jethro, little movements or stretches can come naturally.
You may have noticed if you have seen me working with some of our little sunshines– babies and kids also tend to move their spines and bodies intuitively on the table π§πΆπ¦
They move intuitively because they don’t have the (adult) conditioning that they are meant to “hold still while the doctor is working.” π₯
Me working with one of our littlest sunshines at the recent Appreciation Day (and looking a bit like a DJ π)
If reading this about babies and kids has you starting to judge yourself (“why can’t I get out of my head?!”), there’s something that I want you to really take in.
Please hear me now ππβ¨
You don’t need to move on the table during your adjustments to please me, to “do it right,” to perform, or to achieve π₯π₯π₯
If you’re coming to this topic in a trauma response around performance, pleasing, or productivity, please notice that! π°
What you really may need sometimes when you show up to New Day is to simply be able to “lay there like a log,” as I heard someone say recently β¨
Network Spinal care is a chance to get to know yourself, your nervous system, and your spine through all the seasons, situations, and energy states that you might find yourself in.
I am here to gently encourage you when the time is right and in a way that will be most beneficial to you and your spine and nervous system health βοΈ
The sunshines who choose to engage in this care with me over the course of weeks, months, and years find that there is always more to discover as they go deeper in their experience, and as they change and grow through life (and as I change and grow as your practitioner too!) βοΈπππ₯π
Thank you as always for helping fuel my creativity, New Day. I’m excited for the upcoming Bright Souls Gathering where we can all learn and experience more together π―ββοΈπ―ββοΈ
(The Gathering in November is free, but I need you to sign up online ASAP!
I look forward to seeing you today, tomorrow, and Thursday (but NOT this Saturday!) for your care this week βοΈπ‘π
