Who is Dr. Scherina?

Who is Dr. Scherina?

“Mental health” and Network Spinal

Good evening, Sunshine! I hope you were able to stay cozy during this weekend of strange weather πŸ’¨πŸŒžπŸŒ§

Thank you, as always, for opening this message πŸ’–

Just a couple of weeks ago, on April 13th, New Day had it’s 11th birthday! (Even though I, of course, haven’t aged a day πŸ˜‰)

Hopefully being reminded about the history of this community brings back some great memories for some of you reading this message that have been connected to me for that long, or almost that long 😍

And then there are some of you reading this are very new to me, Network Spinal, and New Day. I appreciate the unique energy you bring!

Suffice it to say that a ton has changed over the past 15+ years since I have been a chiropractor, or training to become one.

But there’s one thing right now that stands out to me as the biggest change I’ve seen in my entire career. And it’s happening right now and is having a huge effect on New Day and the world.

Have you heard of Dr. Scherina Ali?

Last Wednesday night I hosted Intro to Care at New Day. This is our new client gathering and education session that I hold here in person about once a month ✨

Of the 9 souls in attendance, a whopping 6 of them first came to New Day from having found out about Network Spinal care through Dr. Scherina on Instagram πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

Dr. Scherina is a chiropractor who practices Network Spinal in Florida, and she has a HUGE Instagram following πŸ‘―β€β™€οΈπŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦πŸ‘―β€β™€οΈπŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦

I remember first becoming aware of her 5 or 6 years ago on Instagram. At that time I don’t think she had a very big following, but I noticed then as now that all her posts were very high quality and visually appealing.

It was only fairly recently that her content has gone viral.

People all over the country and the world are now finding out about Network Spinal because of her efforts. AND they are seeking out care where they live πŸ’₯

Which is why, all of a sudden, there are new clients popping onto my schedule left and right who found out about Network Spinal from Dr. Scherina on Instagram.

In my 11 years in practice I have NEVER seen interest in Network Spinal and demand for it like I am seeing now. It’s been exciting, and nearly overwhelming! πŸ˜‚β˜€οΈπŸ’—πŸŒπŸŒ€

The ONLY other time that there was an even slightly similar situation was several years ago when Netflix released it’s Gwyneth Paltrow documentary The Goop Lab (which featured one episode on Network Spinal practitioner John Amaral). You canΒ read all about that HERE if you missed that chapter.

Before that, and continuing to today, Tony Robbins was historically the main celebrity “booster” for Network Spinal (a double-edged sword when there are some people who don’t like him!)

In the past it was VERY rare that I met someone in or outside of New Day who had heard of Network Spinal already.

And remember, I went to chiropractic school BECAUSE OF Network Spinal. When I arrived at chiropractic school, and found out that even many chiropractors seemed not to have heard of Network Spinal, it truly dawned on me that much of my professional life would be spent embracing my inner-weirdo and talking (excitedly!) to people about things they have never heard of πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Most people who came to New Day for the first time were either a friend or family member of an existing client, someone I met while networking who was intrigued by my description of what I do, or someone who had been receiving Network Spinal in another city or state and they had recently moved to Chicago.

When I first started practicing, and would tell people about the importance of addressing the spinal cord and nervous system, people would often stare at me blankly. Or they would ask whether it was hard for me to make a living not taking insurance or doing the “cracking” adjustments most people were accustomed to πŸ˜±πŸ˜‚πŸ™ #truestory

So what has changed? Why is Network Spinal “having a moment” now?

Let it also be said that Dr. Scherina’s content and brand is really visually appealing (flowing hair and beautiful dresses
don’t hurt either!)

Here are my thoughts as to why there is a sudden wider interest in Network Spinal care.

First of all, there’s Dr. Scherina. She has been plugging away at this for years– she’s been creating content and taking the time and effort to keep up to date on all the Instagram algorithms necessary to reach a wide audience.

Myself and a lot of other doctors didn’t always take the time to do this.

Our thought was that because ultimately the goal of marketing is to have someone become a client in real life (NOT virtually, unlike many other things), Instagram posts weren’t always going to be as effective a form of marketing because they cast a much wider net. This was especially true for someone like me who was newer in practice, and couldn’t afford to engage in marketing activities that weren’t bringing people through the door immediately.

For example, I remember 6 or 7 years ago when I had my former assistant Amber helping me post to Instagram DAILY.

And then at one point we realized that after 2 years of near-daily Instagram posting that we had received just 1 single new client through our efforts 😒 The return on investment just wasn’t there.

Not only was it necessary to someone to post often enough and post good enough content (even if it wasn’t always helping them in the short-term), but I really think the world had to change too. And it DID πŸ’₯

Where our talk of the nervous system used to fall on deaf ears, we now see a proliferation of thought leaders in various disciplines, with psychotherapy leading the way, talking all the time about the the stress response, trauma being held in the body, the vagus nerve, and how these are very tangible and physical factors that talk therapy alone is not going to address.

Meanwhile, Instagram added Stories and Reels, which bring the message and the feel of the care and our offices more vividly to more and more people ✨✨✨

Covid lockdowns and working from home have brought a huge public awareness about the importance of self-care, mental health, and emotional health.

Demand for therapy has skyrocketed, and younger generations have embraced therapy and mental health care as an important investment in themselves (unlike older generations who were prone to scoffing at self care as an indulgence and mental health as indicating personal weakness).

This is a good example of Dr. Scherina’s content. She puts the nervous system and mental and emotional health at the center of her messaging.

There’s a whole language around stress, trauma, and the body that just didn’t exist in the public conversation a decade ago.

So overall I think it has been changes in technology, the experience of covid, and the ascendance of the Millennial generation that have created this opening for Network Spinal to finally reach a larger audience πŸ™βœ¨πŸŒπŸ’—

And in this current environment, Dr. Scherina has been able to step in and garner a huge following.

I am extremely grateful to Dr. Scherina, and to all the factors that are bringing about this shift to where this work can finally fulfill on it’s promise of transforming the planet!

Whereas other disciplines have only just started looking at the nervous system, and addressing it through body-based techniques, we Network Spinal doctors have such a long history of expertise in this area due to the pivotal role of the spine in nervous system function. And we have a proven, effective, (and enjoyable!) technique to help people and families heal πŸ€—πŸ’—πŸŒ

Make sure to follow Dr. Scherina on Instagram @drscherina so that you can benefit from her expertise and message while you receive the benefits of my care.

(And also, of course, you should be following @newdaynsa for my messages concerning getting the most out of your care with me at New Day β˜€οΈβ˜€οΈβ˜€οΈ).
