Was I wrong?

Was I wrong?

Freeing ourselves for perfect and timely optimization

Good morning, bright New Day!

I remember, 8 years ago when I was first creating New Day and opening our office in Chicago.  Everything was new.

And every decision I made about how to go forward was based on careful research and consideration. . .

Just kidding!

Mostly I used my best guess for what would work best for the office and our clients, based on any advice I might have gotten and what I thought would be in integrity with the care and our newly forming New Day community. When you’re rushing around trying to do everything at once, more often than not you’re just happy to have a matter settled as soon as possible. 🙃

Take for example, our hours of operation.  I remember speaking with a woman I went to school with, who had graduated before me and was practicing before I was.  I talked to her and she said, “Don’t open at 9AM.  Open at 10AM.  Because most people who could come at 9AM, would also be able to come in at 10AM.  And you’ll be in the office until late.”

That made sense!  It felt right.  Decision made.  NEXT!

Then there would be times, months or years later, when it could suddenly be apparent that something needed to change; it became clear that there was an oversight or an unintended consequence with a decision.

Often, at such times, I would then hurry to alter or rectify things, immediately hopping to a quick fix (Stage 2, anyone?)

Other times, (less often, admittedly), I was able to get into a deeper feeling and knowing of the polarity and the stuck paradigm at the root of a “problem” we were in, and gather the energetic resources to chart a new path.

A key past example that comes to mind when I got into Transform concerning a change that needed to be made was my realization of the energy-neutral paradigm we were stuck in at New Day, centering around use of the word “wellness” (I blogged about this here),

And now, I am having another one of those Transform moments!!!

Something else major (majorly wrong) has come into focus to for me with, this time concerning our pricing and careplans.

As a backdrop to my sharing this, consider that at different points along the way in the past 7 years we have increased, changed, restructured, and re-arranged our pricing based on many factors and our desire to be in integrity with the evolution of New Day.  That makes sense, I’m sure.

But somehow, despite all the changes over the years, I recently became aware of something so ongoing, so obvious, so problematic, so pervasive, and so energy-poor at New Day that it shocked me!

Suddenly, in every pricing sheet, and every conversation about the prices of our care and the way our careplans are structured, I saw that we have been reacting and stuck in the consciousness of fear and of PROTECTING ourselves at New Day.

But reacting to and protecting from what!?

Well, all the things that people generally protect themselves from when they are energy-poor, I think.  Being undervalued.  Being unappreciated.  Being misunderstood.  Being taken advantage of.  Fear of wasting time and energy on people who didn’t value all the energy that goes into maintaining and growing New Day.

Here is a clear example of evidence of this issue.  A recent re-reading of our Initial Intensive Care pricing sheet (written several years ago but still in use) had me HORRIFIED to read these statements:

  • “Visits are intended to be used at the frequency discussed with Dr. Katie in accordance with your individual plan of care and within the 3-month time frame.
  • It is your responsibility to schedule and make your appointments on time.
  • Cancellations are accepted up to 24 hours prior to an appointment.  Failure to cancel a scheduled appointment will result in your being charged the cost of the appointment, except in cases of emergency. ”

Is it just me, or does all this sound VERY rulesy?  Almost to the point of being downright disciplinarian?  At the very least, you could probably agree that a spirit of abundance and welcoming does not pervade!

I really could never see any of this until very recently, when I was really ready to see it.

Through a full reception of the gifts of Stage 2 and Stage 3 (thank you Donny Epstein for Network Spinal, SRI, and Focused Breath!) I was able to see and feel all the subtle perceptions, behaviors, and structures where the desire to protect had crept in.

And now, just as though I have put on  a pair of new glasses, or just received a very impactful Network Spinal adjustment, I have seen and felt all this and am freeing us to optimize for the present time!

Does that mean I was doing it “wrong” all this time, until now?

Maybe. . . but in a lot of ways, when we make ourselves or others wrong, we are still resisting (and in this case, resisting RESISTING!) and it keeps us from moving forward effectively.  It causes us to be in a cycle like the one I described above, of making knee-jerk and reactive course corrections from a fear-based place.

What does this mean for you?  Possibly nothing.  These changes may be imperceptible to you.  Some practice members will have the price of their care slightly increase, and some will have it slightly decrease.

Here is the main thing.  We are more grateful than ever to have this have this care and community as amazing, amazing, gifts to share with the world, and for having you in our world. We apologize for any time that we were asleep at the wheel in making sure you felt that way.

We are committed to making sure that whether you pay by the visit for your care, or share your energy with us monthly or annually, that you are always free and encouraged to stop, start, discontinue, continue, recontinue, or start fresh with us, and we will be there for you in a spirit of abundance.

We create the possibility for open access, freedom, abundance, and flexibility.

Thank you for reading!  I look forward to seeing you at your adjustments this week <3
