This practice member experienced a “just unbelievable” improvement with asthma symptoms
Meet our January 2020 Practice Member of the Month, Erica M!
Why I came to New Day:
I was invited to a networking event and thought It was worthwhile to come in and see what was going on. I watched a bit of the demonstration and came back for a new patient appointment.
I’ve had problems with my lower back for forty years now because, when I went to law school, I carried my law books, which were very thick, in a briefcase over my shoulder. I had thrown out the muscles in my lower back. And with that, along with two pregnancies, my back has always been a problem. Plus I’m in a very stressful business; causing me to hunch my shoulders all day, which stresses out my neck. I’ve used chiropractic care since I was in law school and I thought it would be nice to be adjusted on a regular basis, in hopes of being able to prevent that lower back pain. This type of chiropractic was not what I was used to, so I didn’t know whether I would see the kind of results I was looking for.
Also, my office space and my home were both under construction. From all the plaster dust, I had developed environmental asthma. I was using an inhaler which was actually terrible for my osteoporosis because of all the steroids. Plus, I started to develop a head tremor. I thought I was developing Parkinson’s because my head would just do this little shake. But I got diagnosed with Benign Essential Tremors (BET). Katherine Hepburn had that little shake in her head, so I’m very much like her, except that I don’t have those little tremors anymore. Every once in a while I’ll have just a little one, but then it’s gone.
My chiropractic results:
So the things I was told to watch for; that my posture would improve, that my back would improve: I noticed an improvement. My back does still go out occasionally, but it’s back to normal in a few hours as opposed to days.
I am able to breathe more deeply and, because of that, I’m able to de-stress more effectively. I’ve stopped having head tremors that I thought was Parkinson’s but turned out to be BET. Those tremors are almost completely gone. The most important thing is the breathing. It’s just unbelievable to be able to go from not being able to take a deep breath to always being able to. Things I wasn’t expecting are wonderfully improved for me and things I was hoping for are absolutely there.
Why I continue my care with Dr. Katie and Dr Virginia:
It’s one of the few things I do for myself, for self care. I so look forward to these adjustments because my days are so stressful that at least there’s one oasis of fifteen minutes, every week, that I give myself to bring myself back to a place where I can feel improved. And I’m able to carry that home each week. If I’m missing a session, I feel it. I usually come in on Mondays and if I have to wait until Thursday, I know! It’s become such an important part of my life.
So this is a way for me to make sure that my body is being addressed in a very natural way. And that I can continue to improve my health as opposed to allowing old age to take its toll on my body. And really there’s a point in the aging process where you start realizing that you’ve had this body for so many years that it’s rebelling against all the things that you’ve done to it. To be able to have a process that allows me to improve in the best way I can , for my age, and without the use of medicine, plus that the only side effects are good ones; that’s huge for me.
