When you experience better, you DO better

Good day, New Day community ☀️☀️☀️

We’ve all probably heard the quote, “When you know better, do better.” According to the internet, this quote can be traced to Maya Angelou.

I think this quote means that we’re all doing the best we can with what we know. Then, hopefully, down the line we learn something better, and that enables us to make different choices and “do better.”

It’s a great quote, especially when it comes to helping us understand and empathize with others, and also with ourselves at different points in our lives when maybe we were off track 💖

But there’s one thing I don’t like about this quote.

As someone who has worked with clients for 10 years now, I can say that one of the biggest things that I see hold people back in getting better is the mind-set that they think they need to “know” or “understand” something in order to get better.

People think their problem is that they “don’t know” and that they just need to “figure it out.” 😐

So often, I meet people who want to get better– whether that means finally getting better sleep, being more productive and creative, feeling less pain and tension, overcoming an injury, etc– but they stop themselves from moving forward with the plan I recommend because “I don’t know ______”

“I don’t know how I’ll pay for this.”

“I don’t know when I’ll have time for this now during my busy season.”

“I don’t know how I’ll get up here every week.”

“I don’t even know where I’ll be in three months!”

“I really don’t understand how this works.”

“I don’t know how something like this could help with my difficult situation.”

“The last time I tried something like this, it didn’t help me.”

And on and on. Hopefully you can see that I’m not pointing fingers here, as I think we ALL slow ourselves down like this, at times 🙏😢🙏

And yet, most of us can look back at months and years in our lives when we let this stuck mind-set run our decision making, and now, with the gift of perspective, knowing what we know now, and experiencing what we’ve experienced, we wish we would have seen the light sooner ✨🌀

Network Spinal care allows you to have a powerful experience of yourself physically (and otherwise), by ensuring that your brain and body are working together for your health, healing, and continued wellness 💥

Experiences are a powerful way of knowing. Much more powerful, I would argue, than feeling like we’ve “figured it out” mentally.

But it won’t work unless you allow it to work.

That means putting yourself in the game, so to speak, and making a commitment to move forward and a decision that this care will help you 💥💥💥

You make this decision based on 1) the knowledge that the brain is the most important organ in the body, and it can’t do its work if the nervous system and spine aren’t healthy. And then there’s also 2) the “knowing” that comes from your experience of the results of this care, both on the table and after your adjustments as you really start getting to know the version of yourself that isn’t being run on stress-based, fight-or-flight, pain-based programming.

This is knowing that can happen in a moment, but it really compounds over time, through the process of getting care for your spine and the experiences that occur as a result, through all the ups and downs of life 🌍🌀🙏

And, by the way, as you go along in care the thought that “I don’t understand why I still need this” is about as helpful as being stopped from working out at the gym because you don’t understand why it’s “still” necessary, now that you’ve lost weight 😊

When we know better– and by “know” you now know that I really mean EXPERIENCE– we are in a position to do better. But don’t miss that this ability to have a better experience isn’t an intellectual exercise, nor is it an accident; it is a choice and an opportunity to live powerfully.

It is an honor and privilege to serve as your “better-body/life-experience-enhancer” (chiropractor), and I look forward to seeing you at your adjustments this week 💖☀️🌍
