Fresh figs for health

Good morning!  I had never really had fresh figs until recently (must be a southern thing), and have come to love their delicate, not-too-sweet flavor.   2 nights ago we went out to pick fresh figs from a GIGANTIC fig tree!  We needed to stand on a chair and use this metal hook thing to pull down the high branches to harvest every last ripe fig.

I didn’t know much about the health benefits of figs, except that they are high in fiber.  Now, I have also read that they are high in calcium, as well as a variety of other vitamins.  This morning I ate them on hot cereal with nutmeg.  Delicious!
